Pearly Mac began as a simple family dream.

More than two decades ago, two sisters set out to create a quiet island getaway for their mother and their wider family — a place where everyone could gather, rest, and reconnect by the sea. With roots in Davao and Surigao del Sur, the family wanted a space where generations could slow down and enjoy the simplicity of island life together.

The first home, Cabana by the Sea, started as a humble kubo-style cabana right by the water. It quickly became a place of peace for their elderly mother — mornings by the sea, gentle routines, and the calming rhythm of island living. Over time, as the family grew and returned again and again, the cabana naturally evolved into a comfortable family holiday home, thoughtfully adding everyday comforts such as bathrooms, air-conditioning, WiFi, and a small plunge pool — while still keeping its relaxed, lived-in feel.

As milestones were celebrated and memories accumulated, the family later developed Cliffside by Pearly Mac in the mid-2010s. Designed as a quieter retreat, Cliffside offers a more nature-focused escape, with direct access to the rocky shoreline where the family spent time snorkelling, exploring natural corals, and enjoying the surrounding marine life.

Today, Pearly Mac remains very much a family space at heart. These homes are not resorts or luxury villas, but genuine island holiday homes — simple, personal, and shaped by decades of family use. We now share them with guests when our family isn’t there, welcoming those who value authenticity, nature, and a slower pace by the sea.
